The Subs - Mix for Studio Brussels Playground #1

Papillon, DJ Tonic and HighBloo compose the brilliant Belgian trio The Subs, definitely aiding Belgium to confirm its spot as (ok, I'll "one of" here just in case someone gets offended...) the country that has brought to light the most exciting range of electronic music acts and producers roughly over the last 5-7 years.

The trio who perform either ultra energetic live-acts or DJ sets had, up until the end of last year, played more than 160 shows, travelled to 14 countries, used 12 different airline companies, 2 tour buses and 1 private jet. Between the three of them, they had mailed about 250 post cards and drank about 80 bottles of vodka. On the road, they lost 5 iPhone adapters and 6 pairs of earplugs. They counted at least 12 stage invasions and 13 scuffles with venue security. The band remembers 10 speeding tickets and were questioned by the police at least 3 times. They made 6 music videos, launched 1 blog and recorded 3 videocasts. Their audience took home 3 shoes and ripped 2 pairs of trousers from Papillon's body, who did vomit on stage once. So there you have, this is a snippet of what The Subs have been up to  - and only up until the end of 2011...

They are one of Lektroluv Records' golden acts, and their portfolio of releases already counts with two albums: Subculture (2008) and Decontrol (2011), among a vast plethora of remixes and other originals. They recently made this half hour mixtape for Studio Brussels which is definitely DSOTW's 'cup of tea'! Have a listen and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
